                        What is offered to participating Centers and their Youth Bowlers?

 

                        ASSOCIATION AWARDS

- All City Teams recognize the bowlers who have had an exceptional all-around season.

- Flint Invitational Team (formerly All Star) competes against Saginaw in May.

- Award of Merit - Hi average, series, and game for the highest boy and girl in each age class.

- Honor Scores - Bowler receives a clock (one per youth career). Through the 2007-08 season,

        over 105 have been awarded for a 300/800 bowled by a boy and 298 or above/700 for a girl.

 

 

Scholarship OPPORTUNITIES, awarded annually though our association – $7,625.00

$500.00 - Greater Flint Youth Scholarship (by application due April 1, includes bowling and non-bowling activities and accomplishments).

 

The following scholarships are available through tournament participation:

$100.00 each - Mixed Doubles, Singles, Doubles and All-Events Champions

$525.00 each for the three grade divisions: 5th & under; 6th-8th; 9th and over

        ( $250.00 first; $175 second place; and $100.00 third place = yearly total $1575.00 )

 

Individual scholarships include the:

$150.00 each - Al Teuber for First Time Tournament Bowlers (1 per each grade division)

$150.00 - Phil Pierson (boy with 175 + average that rolls the most pins over his average)

$150.00 - Fred Krawiec Memorial (girl with 150+ average that rolls the most pins over her average)

$150.00 - Graduating Senior (bowler that rolls the most pins over their average)

$125.00 each - 700 Club Memorial (Bowlers in 9th grade & above were divided into two groups, top ½ averages and bottom ½ averages. The top bowler in each division determins the $125.00 scholarship winner.)

 

                        TOURNAMENTS

- First place is guaranteed for all tournament divisions with the award presented at the Annual Champions Banquet in June. This applies to the City Team, Doubles, Singles, All-Events (held late February /early March) and the Mixed Tournament (held in November). Additional places are awarded on a ratio of one to eight per class.

- Annual Champions Banquet in June to honor the season’s award winners for Tournaments as well as the Association Award winners.

 

                        A sampling of some of the other things the Greater Flint Youth association offers:

- T-shirts for the All-City Team members.

- Custom medal for the Center Level Award of Merit winners - Hi Series and Game for both boy and girl in each age class for those centers who submit bowlers.

- Open line to answer questions. If answer cannot be found in “USBC Playing Rules,” information is researched to supply documented answer.

- Award folders are pre-printed, ready for league official signature and presentation to bowler.

- Workshops and quarterly Coaches Advisory Board meetings are held for all involved in any  youth program. These meetings are designed for training as well as assistance with paperwork, for that particular time of the year, and to share/discuss ideas with each other.

- Youth officials are encouraged to submit suggestions to the Greater Flint USBC Board of Directors for making changes or additions to current programs.

- History and averages are compiled each season and bound for easy use in a Yearbook.

- With USBC, provide screening for volunteers through the Registered Volunteer Program.
